About the Instructor

Brian Moose

I've had a passion for drawing for years and years.
It wasn't until I was finishing up my BFA in illustration that I came to grips with thefact that my drawing skills were transient. Sometimes the muse would be with me and I'd be able to draw great. Other times it was just gone and nothing I put down on paper was even remotely correct. Kind of a scary thing when you're looking at a career based in drawing.

I had heard about a new book that was out called Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain that was getting great results and... the author was teaching at my school, California State University at Long Beach! I took her class and never looked back. Her method made clear that what I had been doing naturally when I could draw. And, how to invoke that same thing when the muse was missing.
How about that, it had nothing to do with a muse after all!
What made it more exciting was that whenever someone would comment "gee, I wish I could draw as good as you", my reply was YOU CAN!
For the next 25 plus years I was an evangelist for the method.

I've been a designer, illustrator, art director and creative director in the corporate world for lots of years. Some of the companies I've worked for include Walt Disney Studios, Toyota, Adobe and Intuit. I've had the honor of having my art in shows at the American Museum of Illustration in New York, the Society of Illustrators in Los Angeles and in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C..

In the Summer of 2008 I got in touch with Betty Edwards' son, Brian Bomeisler. After three weeks of intensive, exhausting and hands on work in the classroom (plus lots of travel) he and his mom certified me to teach their method.

Having the ability to pull out a pencil and draw whatever you see, whenever you want is really a WONDERFUL skill. The by-product of having this skill is pretty amazing too. Developing drawing skills develop pathways in thinking that is conducive to creative thought. It just happens.

Sign up for a class and start your creative adventure. Five intense days and you'll be drawing. A truly life changing week.
